Range Master Electric Smoker: A Complete Review in 2021

Range Master smokers were discontinued in 2018 and it looks like there is a new model out for 2021. The 2021 Range Master Electric Smoker looks to be made by GHP Group. It looks like a rebadged Dyna-Glo DGU505BAE-D. The small differences being the glass door on the Range Master vs the all steel door on the Dyna-Glo and the Range Master being slightly wider and taller. You can find the Dyna-Glo here and read the reviews. From the pictures, the water pan, wood chip pan, wood chip door, and drip bucket look identical. Both have 505sq inches of cooking space. The Range Master comes in around $150 cheaper than the Dyna-Glo version which makes me think there may be some differences that we can’t tell on the surface. Also, being a rebadged product, I am not sure how great the customer service will be if there is a problem. Then again, it is $150 cheaper.  It might be a great beginner smoker though I would change the drip bucket as it doesn’t look like it would hold all the drippings from 1 brisket. Here is a link to the Dyna-Glo smoker if you want to compare the two smokers.  Another great option is the Masterbuilt Analog Smoker

1. Masterbuilt 20070210 30-Inch Black Electric Analog Smoker

Masterbuilt 20070210 30-Inch Black Electric Analog Smoker

This Masterbuilt smoker is a good family smoker because it has 548 square inches of cooking space spread on 3 cooking grids in the smoker. It is also one of the highest rated electric smokers on Amazon.

That capacity is more than enough to feed your entire family and few friends on the side, which makes it a good residential smoker.

The 1500-watt heating element can produce a temperature in the range of 100°F-400°F which means you can smoke any type of food in the smoker which is especially interesting for people who love to experiment with the entire smoking process.

You can easily control the temperature in the smoker because it has a built-in temperature gauge on the doors.

That means you can see the temperature in any second, but you can’t see what is happening in the smoker because the doors don’t have windows.

I already start talking about the design, so I will continue in that direction.

I like that the entire smoker has legs. It is elevated so you can easily use it without squatting or sitting on the floor.

I would like it if the smoker had wheels but you can’t have everything. That doesn’t mean you can’t move it around, you can, but you have to use handles on the smoker.

Handles look like they are made from the same material as the entire smoker so I would recommend that you carry it around when the smoker is cold, you can never be sure enough and I don’t want you to burn your hands.

The only way to see inside is to open the doors and I wouldn’t recommend that because you will lose all the heat and the temperature produced during the smoking process.

That means you have to turn on the smoker, control the temperature on the built-in temperature gauge, and wait for the smoker to do what it has to – smoke food.

That means you can lower the temperature by opening the vent or closing it (if you want more smoke and more heat).

That is a useful feature for any smoker especially if you want to be flexible with the temperature and the smoke.

Another good thing about this smoker is that it has a removable water pan so you can easily clean it when the smoking is done and that is a perk for every residential electric smoker..

Due to that, I would recommend you to take a look at the Masterbuilt analog electric smoker because if they are the same, you will get the smoker you want, but you will be sure that you have customer support, spare parts, and accessories, etc.

Choosing the Masterbuilt smoker is on the safe side and since they look exactly the same, I believe it is a better choice.

Pros:

  • Top air vent
  • Removable water pan
  • 1500-watt heating element

Cons:

  • Analog
  • spare parts are often out of stock

Spare Parts & Accessories for Range Master Electric Smoker:

Spare Parts & Accessories for Range Master Electric Smoker

The Range Master electric smoker doesn’t have spare parts or accessories because the brand is not interested in spreading its influence in the food smoking business.

If you have already bought the Range Master smoker you can find spare parts and accessories, but not made by the Range Master.

I already mentioned that the Range Master electric smoker looks like the Dyna-Glo model which means you can use spare parts and accessories made by Dyna-Glo, but you have to be sure that you know which smoker it is.

Masterbuilt is a good smoking brand that has everything you need and since you will use their spare parts, I would recommend that you use their smoker.

BONUS TIPS: So, if you are more interested in checking out other parts and accessories I suggest you take a look at my Electric smoker accessories post because you can learn a lot about smokers and their parts there.

Conclusion!

Although I can’t say much about the quality of Range Master electric smoker, I am not a fan of rebadged smokers.  The problem being, spare parts might not fit exactly right and the customer service aspect of it. I am not talking about Old Smokey electric smoker, that is another situation.

When I see smokers like Range Master smoker, I would always go with the more famous brand, in this case, the Masterbuilt.

The Range Master electric smoker looks and acts exactly like the Dyna-Glo and I would go with the Masterbuilt over both of them.

They seem more reliable and more serious about their business when it comes to electric smokers.

If you aren’t satisfied with both Range Master electric smoker and Masterbuilt smokers I suggest you take a look at my Electric smoker guide because at the end of that guide I have made a list of best electric smoker models.

There you have more models on one page which can help you decide which is the best one for you.
